Pinky and Killers was a Japanese bossa nova band active from 1968 to 1972. Their nickname was <Pinkira>. After leaving behind many hits such as "Koi no setsu" (Season of Love) and "Namida no setsu" (Season of Tears), Yoko Kon went independent in 1972, and after that, the two vocalists from the Lovelies (Kobayashi Miyako and Eguchi Saeko) joined the band and became the New Killers, which continued to perform until 1974. The name Pinky and the Killers was taken from the American vocal group Spanky and Our Gang, while the British group Pinky and the Fellas, who had a hit with "Manchester and Liverpool", renamed themselves after Pinkira, who had also become popular. Pinkira was active during the heyday of GS group sounds, but even though the members of the Killers were a solid bossa nova band with great musical ability, they were not included in the GS category, and their follower band Chico and the Beagles tended to be treated as GS. The healthy image of a 16-year-old national idol female singer singing the songs of Izumi Taku (Iwatani Tokiko) may have set them apart from the long-haired GS bands who copied the Stones. As a result, they have also appeared in the Red and White Song Battle (off-limits to GS) for four consecutive years. Incidentally, in the movie "Tears After a Smile" in which The Tempters star, there is a scene where Shoken sings "Koi no Kisetsu" (Season of Love) imitating Pink Lady. Watching on TV, people of all ages and genders imitate the gesture of Shoken putting his fingers on his bowler hat as he starts to sing. I feel that this national idol phenomenon was a precursor to Pink Lady in the 1970s.
