"There's been a lot of buzz around the Beatles since the beginning of this year, but first up is this killer "Anthology" DVD box. It's a powerful expansion of the video series that everyone knows, released in 1996. The highlight is the bonus disc full of unreleased footage. The main feature shows the three former Beatles gathering at George's mansion in June 1994, and the outtakes are tear-jerking. The video starts with them humming Jimmy Reed's blues numbers on the ukulele in the garden, then they talk about behind-the-scenes stories, set up their instruments and enjoy a casual session with George talking about "Launch," the song that inspired him to join the Beatles, and Paul imitating Elvis. It's basically a band dad's old tale, but it's a story told by these three guys, so it's truly Beatles-like. There are also other scenes, such as George's recollections of operating the console at Abbey Road Studios and the recording of "Free as a Bird," which makes you feel grateful to George for leaving us these videos before he passed away. It is worth noting that most of the performance scenes from live performances and promotional films are recorded in full, and even familiar ones can be enjoyed in a very clear state. Of course, there are many rare ones, and I couldn't help but lean forward when I saw the fresh appearance of Badfinger and James Taylor at the end of the video. There are probably still some parts that have not been released, and it may be difficult to satisfy greedy Beatles fans 100%. But that aside, the comments from the band members, as well as the backstage staff such as George Martin, Derek Taylor, and Neil Aspinall, are extremely frank and I think they will resonate directly with fans of all walks of life. I would also like to applaud the work of Jools Holland, the interviewer, who was able to draw out relaxed comments from them. And what remains in the impression is the beautiful yet powerful sounding Beatles music. One word: Great!'
