■ 超絶技巧「玉含み」と時代背景
本作は一塊の柘植から彫り出された「一木造り」であり、口中の小さな玉は後から入れたものではなく、彫りの過程で切り離されたものです。

This museum-quality Netsuke of a Shishi (Lion Dog) has been kept in my family for generations and is being offered for the first time (Ubudashi). It is a masterpiece of Edo-period craftsmanship, carved with incredible precision. Rather than for simple resale, I hope this piece finds its way to someone who truly appreciates the height of Japanese Edo-period culture and craftsmanship, and who will cherish it as a legacy for the next generation.

This piece is artistically identical to the masterwork by Tanaka Minko sold at Bonhams London (Auction 21101, Lot 65). Every detail—from the muscular tension to the intricate fur carving—matches the quality of that world-renowned piece.
Furthermore, this netsuke bears the signature Tametaka.
While these two netsuke are undoubtedly twins, take note of how their signatures differ.
