サーフボードシェイパーのショーン・ステューシー（Shawn Stussy）が、彼の仲間のためにデザインした数枚のＴシャツから始まったアパレルブランド"ステューシー（Stssy）1980"はユースカルチャーから自然発生したブランド、1980年代後半から1990年代初頭に掛けて、南カリフォルニアのサーフシーンから生まれたブランドとして新しいカジュアルウェアのルックとイデオロギーでアパレルの世界に変化をもたらした。
1980年代後半には、サーフィンとスケートボードという孤立した小さな世界の中で話題を集め、ショーンはニューヨークとカリフォルニアに小さなショールームを開設し、彼自身が尊敬していたショップにデザインを見せて回った。

The apparel brand "Stussy (Stussy) 1980"" started with a few T-shirts designed for him by surfboarder Sean Stussy (Sean Stussy), and the brand spontaneously emerged from youth culture in the late 1980's and early 1990's. The brand has been in operation since then. Stussy"s 1980" brand spontaneously emerged from youth culture, and from the late 1980s to the early 1990s, the look and ideology of the new casual wear as a brand born from the surf scene in Southern California. In the late 1980s, Sean created a buzz within the small, isolated world of surfing and skateboarding, opening small showrooms in New York and California and showing his designs around to stores he himself respected.
