① Most of the songs are beat girls (yeah yeah) from the late 60s, but the first song and the five songs by Jacques Dutronc are male singers. Stella, Pussy Cat, Franoise Hardy, Petula Clark, Sylvie Vartan, these are artists that can now be collected as individual albums, but in the 90s when this CD was released, it was a valuable tool for French pop music.
② [A French Affair] 2-disc set, 43 songs in total, VTED356, CD release in 2001, UK edition
*For detailed song titles, please see image 6.
② is edited by the UK's VIRGIN RECORDS and seems to be a best-of album covering a wide range of periods from the early 60s to the late 70s, and although there are songs from the Ye-Ye-Ye era, there are also famous chansons from before the Beat Girls, such as Edith Piaf. It also includes film music such as "A Man and a Woman." A rare sound source is Claude Franois' "Comme D'Habitude," the original song for Sinatra's famous "My Way" on disc 22.
③ [ORIGINAL SIXTIES] 26 songs total 330 752 CD released in 1987 French version
*For detailed song titles, please see image 7.
As the name suggests, this is a best-of album of French pop from the 60s. There are a lot of male singers, but there are rare recordings of female singers such as Patricia Carli and Sophie, and the 23rd song "Reviens vite et oublie" sung by the latter is a French version of The Ronettes' "Be My Baby". However, the highlight of this CD is undoubtedly France Gall's "L'orage". In 1969, Gall returned to France from Germany and resumed her activities in her home country, but (as far as I know...) this is the only CD that contains this song (excluding the indie PART TIME vol.2). In Japan, "Rain" is famous as a hit song by Gigliola Cinquetti, but Gall's version sung in French is still the best! Is this a path (song?) that all gal fans, including "ZOZOI," must take?
④ [SURPRISE PARTIE LES VENDANGES DE L'AMOUR / MARIE LAFORET] 24 songs total 107 662 CD released in 1991 French edition
*For detailed song titles, please see image 8.
④ is a junk item because it does not have the front and back jackets. Marie Laforet is an actress who co-starred with Alain Delon in the movie "Purple Noon," but she is also a pop singer representing France. "Manchester & Liverpool" by the British group Pinky & Ferras was originally her hit song. Also, the other day I saw a cover of Dylan's "I WANT YOU" on an omnibus somewhere, and I was surprised at how well it was made. This CD seems to be a best-of album, but she left behind more than 10 LPs, and this album also contains some relatively rare songs. The 13th song is "El Condor Pasa", and ③ also has one hit song. The song title is listed in image 8 on the board.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The term "French pop" is a coined word made in Japan, but the genre "chanson" has been heard for a long time, but in French it simply means "song", and conversations like "Oh, you like chanson" seem to only be possible in Japan.
...So, my journey to find a female French pop singer other than <France Gall>, <Franoise Hardy>, and <Sylvie Vartan> has come to an end, so I will be listing some rare artists little by little.
I will be listing these items to clear out my inventory, but I'm sorry, but I will not sell them separately. Please purchase a set of 3. I have kept them carefully, and the discs are clean, but they have been stored for a long time, so please refrain from purchasing if you are nervous. No claims or returns please. I will try to ship quickly.
