① is a compilation of 60s American girl groups edited by UK West Side Records, and includes 31 songs from 1962 to 1966 on the UK Roulette, Jubillie, Blaine, Dynavoice, Josie, Gone, Colpix, and Dimension labels. Eight of the songs are unreleased. The songs from 1964 onwards were influenced by the wave of the British Invasion, including the Beatles, and there are songs (especially unreleased) that begin to move away from the carefree old-time style (which I love in its own way...), and this is what makes this album different from compilations mainly from 1960 to 1962. 1. ② is a compilation album of the US 'LAURIE RECORDS', which has been released in high quality since the 2000s on the UK ACE label Vol.1 to Vol.3, but this album was released in Japan by Teichiku in 1989, early in the CD era, and the many Japanese song titles give a sense of that era. My personal favorite is Bernadette Carrol's voice, and the 22nd track, 'OCTPUS GARDEN', was released in 1972 and seems out of season for this compilation CD, but it's a nice cover of the Beatles' 1969 number, which feels like a time slip back to 1962, and is a good cover song with a female vocal.
