(著者紹介) 米 1928- 児童文学作家.ノース・カロライナ州シャーロット生まれ. 執筆活動を開始したのは1960年代だが，「白鳥の夏」（1970）がニューベリー・メダルを受賞するまではあまり注目されなかった.“台所調”ドラマと呼ばれる，現代生活の写実的な描写を得意とし，「18回目の緊急事態」（1973），「さようなら，チキン・リトル」（1979）などの人気小説も多い.
